America will soon be celebrating it's 250th Birthday on July 4th, 2026. For those who were alive in 1976 will remember the Bicentennial Celebration and the spirit of patriotism that swept the country. The government started making plans in 1973. Some of those plans never came to fruition. Such as a theme park in each state celebrating America. But regardless, when the big day finally arrived, it was celebrated from coast to coast.
Some might say that the country is nothing like it was in 1976 with the dividedness. Although that is partly true, the country was also very divided in 1976 with the Viet Nam war that had just recently ended and a massive wave of inflation that "We the People" had to contend with. None the less, the country did come together to celebrate. We can do it again too, America! Let's get ready to party!
For those whom were alive in 1976 for the countries Bicentennial Celebration might remember the wagon train that crossed the country. Just like the pioneers over 100 years before them, normal everyday citizens chose to participate in this grueling and yet, educational and patriotic cause.
We will discuss this historic recreation of a reverse wagon train across America in detail here. The map below shows two of the routes. The yellow line is the Main route which had feeder lines from every state. The red line was the original 13 Colonies route. It was independent and did not connect with the Main route until they both reached Philadelphia on July 3, 1976. Stay with us as more material will be going up here soon.
